Newborn Session Guide
We are thrilled to be meeting your baby so soon!
Thank you for choosing Jiji Habanbou Photography to capture your special photos, we promise that you’ll love not just the photos but the whole experience.
Here are a few tips to help you know what to expect at the session. We don’t want to overwhelm you, so we made it as short and simple as can be.
How to get yourself and your baby ready for your photoshoot:
We make every effort to meet our clients expectations so we don’t set time limit for our newborn sessions, we try to finish all the poses without exhausting the new parents. However, some babies take longer to fall asleep, and we have found that age is a huge factor as they get more aware of their environment. If your baby refuses to sleep don’t panic, awake photos are as adorable too!
FEEDING
A well fed baby is a happy baby! Please feed and burp baby right before our session to ensure a happy, sleepy (“milk drunk”) baby. We’ll also be more than happy to take as many breaks as needed to help him/her re-fuel.
WHAT TO BRING
A few diapers as accidents WILL happen, and that’s totally expected, please don’t apologize if your baby makes herself so comfortable to use us or our blanket for personal use 🙂 we are totally prepared for it.
A pacifier if your baby uses it, it helps settling the baby in specific poses.
A bottle and milk if your baby doesn’t breastfeed.
That’s it! We’ve got all other things for you.
WHAT TO WEAR
For Mom: We know how the new mom feels about her appearance. Lack of sleep doesn’t help either, but Hey, you look gorgeous and glowing! Take advantage of this day and pamper yourself. Do your hair and makeup or even get it done professionally, nothing is too fancy for photos. Nails are better natural with no nail polish.
Keep it timeless! We love simple clothes that make the baby the focus of the session, so any light/neutral colour shirt or dress would look great. Choose something with texture if available, it makes the baby’s skin look so smooth. Avoid busy colours or patterns.
We also have some outfits to use for the new moms so if you feel like coming in your PJs just do it. Choose nude-coloured underwear and a strapless bra if available.
For Dad: a plain neutral/white colour shirt is best. Avoid button shirts and patterns. Dads are always welcome to get their shirts off as well so we can capture the tenderness between dad and baby.
HOW TO ACT
This is the only time your baby will look this small in your hands. We want to capture this and we are expert at doing it. All we ask you is to RELAX. Don’t stress out about how you’ll look or where to look. We will guide you through your poses.
When the baby is enjoying her solo photos, take advantage of this time to relax and have a break. Enjoy a coffee, or even a nap on our couch, we will take care of your baby.
Jiji is an experienced and well trained photographer, with CPR and first aid certificate. We make sure to pose babies safely and NEVER attempt any pose that causes a risk to baby’s safety.
We are looking forward to our session, and please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions or address any concerns.
