Making your own DIY background
Backdrops and floordrops can be one of the most expensive props that a photographer would buy on regular basis. However, we don’t always have to spend a fortune on it.
With this tutorial I’m going to show you how I created 2 sets for less than 90CAD.
What you need:
A masonite board. I bought 4′ X 8′ and cut it into 2 so I have 2 square pieces on 4X4′ can be found at your local hardware store like Homedepot or Lowes.
A wood pattern wallpaper, I use this Nuwallpaper from amazon on this link
and another one for the other side which I bought locally in store.
The process
I simply lined the 2 board pieces beside each other and sticked the wallpaper on them. This ensures the continuity of the pattern in case you need to use it as a big floor drop so you just place them beside each other.
I cut the vinyl between the 2 pieces and then flipped the board and applied the second pattern same way.
